The Secret Organization is poised to play a huge role in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, though the major clash won’t unfold until the third season, and a cherished, audience-beloved member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor has joined the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Bon Clay. Bon Clay can use their power to change into an identical duplicate of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their dominant hand. The performer, who is identifies as non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that character reimagined as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag artist, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and animated series.

Escola joins a number of fresh additions set to bring the group to reality, including head Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although the role is a major member of the organization, the character won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. With the next season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this represents a major departure in the schedule of the character’s debut, one that could suggest further changes to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of excellent comedic sense and profound feeling makes them a perfect fit for the character. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and multiple awards for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s widely praised characters.

Netflix's live-action One Piece series is due to premiere for its second season on the tenth of March, 2026.
