Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of heroes, and a thrilling plot featuring divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of heroes who will split off from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer the cleric might seem mismatched, but the actions of the third episode make it clear why these particular heroes are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the team knows exactly where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of the deceased character—whose demise kicked off the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and swiping all the magical artifacts to dispose of.
The antagonist then settled his liabilities and fled to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, north of Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each member has a personal reason to leave the city Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- The strong character and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to execute the target and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could assist the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, The fighter pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that rule Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The cleric defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the family.
This results in them little choice but to head to Timmony in pursuit of the traitor.
