Suspected Harasser Inquired: 'But Imagine I Could Be Madeleine?'
A female accused with pursuing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a voicemail message which questioned: "suppose I am Madeleine?"
Julia Wandelt, 24, who witnesses stated has persistently claimed she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are facing charges accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February this year.
On Monday, Leicester Crown Court heard communication data and data obtained from phones recorded Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test throughout the past two years.
Madeleine's case in 2007 - as a three-year-old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most covered child disappearance cases and remains unsolved.
'I Am Not Seeking Money'
A separate phone message, presented in court, recorded Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm heavy and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I feel."
While one recording of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's recording stated: "Imagine there is a small chance that I'm her? Then what? Wouldn't that be significant for you?"
"I don't want money, I possess a living here in Poland, I simply desire to know," the recording stated.
The tribunal was informed that through electronic messages, mobile messages and calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, transmitted youth pictures to her phone in a bid to demonstrate a resemblance to Mrs McCann's missing daughter, and claimed to have "recollections" from a youth with the McCanns.
An intelligence analyst, a data specialist with the police force who collated the evidence, advised the court there "didn't appear to be any replies" from Mrs McCann.
Ms Wandelt furthermore contacted acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.
On October 9th, 2024, Gerry McCann responded to a communication from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "the wrong phone."
That day Ms Wandelt left a message on Mrs McCann's recording saying "I won't give up and I plan to establish my claim."
The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt preceding assisting her on a trip to the McCanns' property in the county in that winter.
Communication data showed Mrs Spragg had communicated through communication app to Mrs McCann to state the media had depicted Ms Wandelt as "mentally unstable" but that she deserved to be treated respectfully in the time before the visit to that location, that area, in December 2024.
The court was told correspondence between the two accused, in that autumn, considering endeavoring to acquire Mrs McCann's genetic material from her bins or from silverware at a dining venue.
"We have to take action," Mrs Spragg advised Ms Wandelt.
On the night of the trip to their house, Mrs Spragg dispatched a text which stated: "We're currently sat outside the McCanns' residence with our vehicle dark resembling detectives. I desired to do this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
The trial continues.
