Slot Insists He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was natural for doubts to be asked about his future after a further heavy defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

The Reds endured their 9th defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run after being demoted in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I have got significant backing from the top,” Slot stated.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're coaching a team and struggling then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are supportive to the team and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He added, “During our regular discussions I feel the confidence. But I've not talked to them after this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Failings and Squad Response

The manager expressed regret over recurring shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the solutions. Frankly, I don’t. I'm telling that to everyone,” Jones said.

“It’s just unacceptable. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He went on, “It's tough because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a period such as this with outcomes this poor.”

He concluded, “But we still have the crest on our shirts. And until that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what this club is about and why it's known as the greatest side in the world.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
