This January recruitment period is always a time of significant speculation and possible major transfers. A number of prominent stars are being connected to transfers away from their current teams. We examine some of the major names who might be changing clubs in January.

A. Semenyo

Although Ghana's inability to qualify for the AFCON, which has kept the forward in contention, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker possesses a contract with a substantial buy-out clause active for a brief window at the start of the month. Recent reports suggest Manchester City are now the frontrunners for his services. Other interested parties such as Tottenham and Chelsea reportedly have turned their attention to other targets, potentially opening the door for clubs such as Manchester United or Liverpool to make a last-minute bid.

M. Guéhi

The English centre-back has continued to impress for Palace despite a previous transfer to Liverpool collapsing. As his deal due to expire in the summer, this represents the London club's final opportunity to obtain a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top sides, such as City and multiple European giants including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a January exit is considered unlikely, particularly given the manager's dependence on the player.

B. Johnson

The Wales forward has found starting opportunities hard to come by at Tottenham this term. Although finishing as the side's top scorer the previous campaign, he has begun just a handful of league matches. Reports suggest the North London club is willing to consider a sale for the correct price, thought to be in the around forty million pounds. Bournemouth appear to be leading the chase, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford also showing an inquiry.

Spurs rate Brennan Johnson at around £40m.

R. Neves

The Portugal playmaker could be set for a comeback to the Premier League after a spell in the Saudi Pro League. Still only 28, while his agreement ending in the summer of 2026, he is a potential opportunity. Clubs such as Liverpool and Manchester United have been connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there have been suggestions from Spain that he would be willing to accept a pay cut for a move to the Spanish giants.

Marc-André ter Stegen

This experienced German goalkeeper is now as the third option at Barcelona under the manager Flick. After lost his place and undergone surgery, a January departure looks increasingly likely. Villa were once linked as a possible destination, but that move now appears unlikely. Instead, interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are reportedly expressing curiosity in the 33-year-old.

Ivan Toney

The proven English centre-forward has kept finding the net regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his dwindling chances of making the England World Cup. However, arranging a deal presents major hurdles. His current club do not wish to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all linked as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

This energetic midfielder drew considerable interest in the summer but remained at Atlético. With limited starts in La Liga this term, he is eager to find more minutes ahead of the tournament. Manchester United have been heavily connected, and a return to Crystal Palace, a club he shone on a temporary deal, is also a possibility, though wage constraints might prove a problem.

Harvey Elliott

Although excelling and winning the best player award at the U21 Euros last summer, this talented player has struggled for minutes on loan at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has stated the temporary transfer won't be made permanent. Due to specific rules about playing for two clubs in a campaign, a return to his parent club before next season seems to be the sole available solution.

Kenan Yildiz

The exciting Turkey attacker is in fine form for the Italian giants this season. As his current deal running down, many Premier League clubs – including Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are monitoring the situation. Juventus are eager to tie down the youngster to a lengthy agreement but face a battle to keep one of the continent's brightest young talents.

K. Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his style of play. Following starring at the U19 Euros, Smit has broken into the AZ side. This 19-year-old is widely expected to complete a major transfer in January. Newcastle reportedly are leading the chase, but could face stiff rivalry from the Spanish champions for a signing priced at around £22 million.
