The City boss confessed feeling "shame" following an exchange with a camera operator in the wake of Manchester City's 2-1 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.

When the match concluded, a visibly upset Guardiola entered the St James’ Park pitch and had heated discussions with match official Sam Barrott and Magpies midfielder Bruno Guimarães, while also handling the broadcast crew's equipment.

"I said sorry," Guardiola stated. "I feel embarrassed, ashamed, when I see it. I don’t like it. I immediately apologized to the cameraman. I am who I am. With a thousand matches under my belt I'm far from perfect, I make huge mistakes."

"What is for sure, I defend any team and my club, that’s for sure. Why I want to defend my team is clear – based on my career to win the Premier League we need near-perfect totals, high nineties, or we fall short."

City's Position and Guardiola's Assessment

The team sits in third and are seven behind the Gunners following their fourth loss of the season. "Losing four games out of 12 we have to improve a lot," Guardiola admitted. "Mathematically, it’s possible still achieve all."

On the subject of his talk with Guimarães, the coach explained: "We have known Bruno for many years and post-match, even at the Etihad, we converse. We often meet and I always have a good relationship. I enjoy it. I'm passionate, I love to talk and gesticulate."

City were unhappy that Barrott or the VAR denied a spot-kick for a Fabian Schär challenge on Phil Foden, while they also questioned Bruno's positioning on Barnes' goal Newcastle’s 70th-minute winner. Pictures published later indicate the Brazilian was onside.

Guardiola will take charge his century in Europe versus Leverkusen on Tuesday. "That's impressive, it means that every season we have been there," he said.
