Just as Storm Claudia tore through the northern region the prior day, Manchester City overwhelmed United aside at the their home ground. It was a statement 3-0 win for Andrée Jeglertz’s side thanks to goals from Knaak, Bunny Shaw and Hemp. It was a performance that firmly established their championship potential as they strengthened their standing at the league summit.

Consecutive Setbacks for United

This outcome represented successive Women's Super League setbacks for Skinner's side for the initial occasion since May 2024, leaving them seven points off the league leaders with their trophy ambitions hanging by a thread.

Manchester United's capacity to juggle league and continental football with a limited team has been a frequently analyzed issue since they secured entry to the UCL. Previously unable to overcome any opponent who finished above them last season, Jeglertz’s side now have wins against the Gunners and United to place them in a favorable position after nine games.
