Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Involving 38 Patients
Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician has been charged with committing assaults against 38 individuals who were patients.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
