Beloved Star Pat Finn, Recognized For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.
American performer Finn, who was seen in iconic programs like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died aged 60.
The comedic improv actor died at home in LA recently following treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, according to news outlets.
"Pat Finn considered no one a stranger - just potential friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a announcement.
They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable Career on Screen
His initial on-screen part was on the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he portrayed the lead character's sibling.
He also had a recurring role on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in the late 90s, depicting a party host famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several hit series, like:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His work in movies include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.
He was a member of a six-person improv troupe called "Beer Shark Mice".
"He guided, supported, and advised many learners during his career and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A great dad, a great guy," he shared online.
Pat Finn is survived by his wife Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
