Anthony Joshua Reiterates on Controversial "Kill" Comments Directed at Jake Paul
Anthony Joshua stood by his controversial remarks about wanting to “kill” his opponent during a press event in Florida on midweek.
The remarks were first made on the previous day when Joshua was questioned if he would show restraint against the social media star, responding that “if I can kill you, I'll kill”.
The upcoming contest against the internet personality turned fighter has sparked criticism over safety concerns and the size difference between the two competitors.

Former world heavyweight champion The Gypsy King called Anthony Joshua a “disgrace” for his extreme rhetoric.
But the 36-year-old fighter, defended his stance: “This is what I do, we fight. We have a licence to kill.
“I understand many people don't grasp it but this is what my job is. I just enjoy what I do. The outcome, happens - provided that my hand is held high, that's what's crucial, respectfully.”
He continued, “That's just the mentality we have to have as boxers. I'm unsure if other fighters think that way. Maybe they're a bit more tame. The way my mind works. When you're in the squared circle, it's a dangerous thing. Anything can happen.”
“You wish your adversary exits the ring in good health, but if they don't, you still have to go to bed aware you just did your job. It was not personal.”
Paul's Fiery Response
Paul, a considerable underdog in the fight as a career cruiserweight, was no less combative in his retort.
“This is a modern day combat sport,” he declared. “I'm prepared. I want his hardest punches. I want there to be zero excuses when it's all over. We should kill each other.”
AJ will face Paul, 28, at Miami's Kaseya Center in a fight many regard as a glaring mismatched contest, with some arguing it should have been sanctioned as an exhibition bout.
The official fight will be fought over 8 3-minute rounds using regular ten-ounce padded gloves, with a specified maximum weight for the former champion.
Joshua Says He Was “Called In to Save” Boxing
Despite the graphic terminology used, Joshua said he has been “called in to save” boxing.
“They want me to halt the Jake Paul show and I understand it and that's why I have to bear the sport on my back in this bout,” he added.

Paul & Joshua Deny Pre-Arranged Claims
The surreal nature of this fight has led to speculation about its legitimacy, including suggestions that he may be prohibited from knocking Paul out.
“There's nothing in the agreement, AJ can attest to it. We're going to war,” Paul said.
Joshua, wearing a expensive chain, humorously added, “The only thing in the agreement that got my attention was the payment.”
He has claimed on social media that the total purse will be exceptionally large.

He has not faced anyone of Joshua's pedigree but insisted that his opponent would not underestimate him.
